Do Not Yield To Evil
(2011-2015)

As a child growing up in The Bronx, I was attracted to the interplay between both the grime and flashiness of NYC. Both natural and man-made spaces, coexisitng, yet fighting for attention. Each neighborhood of the city varies in poverty and affluence which attributed to my intrigue. My eye was drawn to buildings, signage, and objects and their reflections. This abstract subject matter began to portray more about the neighborhoods than the residents themselves.

The images in Do Not Yield To Evil provide a multi-dimensional look at these spaces. Although intimate, I want them to feel alienated from the rest of the urban world, and utilize decoys to compensate for that absence. From refuse to advertisements, I am drawn to the spaces of the humans, rather than the humans themselves.
